#SomeOneTellKagame: Rwandans teach Kenyans lesson on Twitter

#SomeOneTellKagame: Rwandans teach Kenyans lesson on Twitter

A Twitter spat has erupted between Rwandans and Kenyans after a hashtag was launched which tried to undermine the leadership of President Paul Kagame.

The hashtag #SomeOneTellKagame began trending at noon (10GMT). Within a few minutes, thousands of Tweets were flowing from “Rwandans-on –Twitter”(Rwot) who were telling off the Kenyans. In the same counter campaign, “Kenyans-on-Twitter” (KoT) who were not happy with other Kenyans attacking Kagame, joined in.

By press time, Kenyans using the hashtag against Kagame had retreated from the campaign and it was being dominated by his supporters.

The RwoT and their Kenyan backers are arguing with numbers and more tangible points highlighting Kagame’s achievements. They are urging the Kenyans to focus on the problems in Kenyan like rampant corruption and poor hygiene especially in the capital Nairobi.
