Rwanda : Governor Kabahizi questions Nyabihu development partners

Governor Kabahizi questions Nyabihu development partners

The Governor of the Western province, Kabahizi Celestin, has said that development partners in Nyabihu district need the implementation of their action plans on a timely basis so as to see their contribution in district performance contracts.

Kabahizi said that most of the development partners do not abide by the activity timeline in their action plans and have a tendency of trying to implement the agreed development targets at the last minute ahead of the evaluation of the performance contracts

With this attitude towards implementation of development, the governor said that it is an aspect that retards the district performance and reflects lack of seriousness among the partners.

While addressing the general community in Nyabihu on August 31, the governor said this is a wakeup call for development partners to stick to the action plans and time management, so as to pay a significant role in community development.

He also noted the monitoring and evaluation teams should be active to ensure that the plans are actually implemented as agreed, and urged resident to be directly involved in ensuring that such activities are implemented.

Apparently, Nyabihu district managed to secure a good position in the recent evaluation of the 2011-2012 district performance contracts, moving from position 28 to position 21 nationalwide, while at the provincial level Nyabihu scooped the first position out of the seven districts in the province.

However, Governor Kabahizi encouraged the district leaders and residents to work hard in the next set of performance contracts 2012-2013 in order to secure a better position.
