Rwandans have made it clear that they have chosen three things twenty years after the genocide, to stay together, be accountable and think big.

Ahead of the Rwanda Day, slated for sept 20th, 2014 there is an ongoing campaign dubbed ‘Twahisemo’- meaning ‘we have chosen’ through which the three messages have been clearly said and sent through social media around the country.

These messages have gone viral with every Rwandan from all walks of life; ranging from opinion leaders, politicians and artists and local citizen describing what these choices mean for them and how they interpret the future of their country.

Through Facebook and twitter, the campaign has called on citizens to Join Rwanda’s journey: 20 year with 3 choices. Staying Together, Being Accountable, and Thinking Big.

Some of the messages selected include; King James, Rwanda popular musician who said “the choice is to be human; while female musician Teta Diane also says that “the choice is to build the country”

Rwanda was affected by the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi which claimed over 800.000 lives leaving the country in tatters, only to be saved by the RPF liberation struggle which has today seen Rwanda drastically transform its economy and human resources towards prosperity.

The sixth edition of Rwanda Day will bring together thousands of Rwandans living abroad as well as friends of Rwanda to Atlanta, Georgia.

The event will be a celebration of 20 years of liberation (Kwibohora20) and the progress Rwanda has made, as well as a chance to discuss solutions to our challenges as Rwanda continues to build a dignified nation.

This year, Rwanda Day will feature panel discussions on youth employment and opportunities as well as discussions on economic self-reliance and global dignity.

Rwandan artists, including King James, Teta Diana, Massamba Intore and Sophia Nzayisenga, will join guests in celebrating Rwanda Day. The event will be broadcast live in Rwanda, on TV, radio and on www.rwandaday.org.

Also a job fair and an investment exhibition will be held to bring together Rwandans living abroad and employers in Rwanda to network and begin the recruitment process. The expo will showcase Rwandan products as well as opportunities to invest in key sectors such as mining, tourism, tea and coffee, real estate, construction and services.
