    Nyamasheke: Civil Societies representatives train for upcoming elections

    Leaders of political parties, Civil Societies representatives and religious leaders have been asked to play a part in the preparations and operations of the upcoming elections of Members of Parliament in September 2013.

    This was discussed on Thursday 30th.May.2013 in the training for Political Parties’ representatives, Civil Societies representatives, religious and Church leaders that operate in Nyamasheke District.

    Moise Bokasa the coordinator of National Electoral Commission (NEC) says the Political Parties’ representatives, Civil Societies representatives, religious and Church leaders were selected by NEC as people’s representatives in different levels.

    The training was to explain the preparations and operations of the upcoming elections for them to be able to explain to their followers for the success of these elections. The trained entities are the basic partners of NEC.

    Political Parties nominate candidates to contest for Members of Parliament seats; church leaders represent all kinds of people that require knowledge on elections and Civil Societies provide election observers for successful elections.

    Charles Bahizi the vice mayor for finance and economic development in the district appealed to the present entities in this training to understand all concepts of democratic elections for them to play a role towards good elections and good governance.

    “Rwanda is ruled by ideas and actions of its people and all political parties have a responsibility of rebuilding the country. With different political parties there are different ideas, all towards the development of the country” Bahizi talking about the role of political parties in good elections.
