The call was made on June 14th 2013, by the Deputy Pierre Claver Rwaka during the event to commemorate Kamonyi district workers that were killed during 1994 Tutsi genocide.

The remembered victims were the workers of then districts but now sectors Runda, Taba, Kayenzi, Mugina, Musambira and Rutobwe.

Deputy Pierre Claver Rwaka commended Kamonyi district administration for setting time to remember the victims.

The mayor of Kamonyi district, Jacques Rutsinga asked the workers to strive for the best and fight genocide ideologies.

He gives an example of Callixte Ndagijimana, the then mayor of Mugina district (Komini) who refused to participate in genocide but protected the people he lead until he was killed in 1994 along with his subjects.
