Pastor Rick Warren seeks solace in Rwanda
Renowned preacher, Pastor Rick Warren has said that his Prayer trip to Rwanda this August 2013 has brought consolation to his life and struggles after he lost his son to suicide .
Pastor Rick Warren is an American evangelical Christian pastor and author and runs Southern California’s Saddleback Church. He has become one of rwanda’s friends and is in the country to attend a special prayer session dubbed ‘Peace Plan
’-aimed at Thanking God for the success of the country.
While in Rwanda, Pastor Warren, who also officially opened a Peace Plan training session in Kigali on August 27th, said that “the prayer meeting has a purpose in my life and I feel consoled pray, share with Rwandans and thank God for having managed to go through the difficult times after the death of my son”
His 27-year-old son-Matthew Warren shot himself dead on April 5 after struggling with mental illness. The act of suicide sent Pastor Warren off the pulpit for at least three months as he struggled with the accepting the death of his son.
Saddleback announced on April 6 that Warren’s youngest son had committed suicide after suffering from mental illness for years.
Warren, author of the international bestseller The Purpose Driven Life, returned to the pulpit on July 28 with the new series and has shared his message on life’s struggles, focusing on believers’ struggle with God after he lost his 27-year-old son. Warren shared about shock and sorrow in part one and two of the sermon series, respectively.
