    SORAS Group Head Office

Police in Nyarugenge District have arrested one person in connection with last Friday’s burglary at SORAS head officers in Kigali where electronics worth millions of francs were stolen.

Robbers broke the door and entered into the facility’s department of health insurance at around 11:45pm and stole two scanners, a flat television set, an internet switch, computer and about Rwf590, 000.

Police also said the suspect (names withheld for investigation purposes), aged 28, was arrested red handed with the two scanners and a television set.

“We have so far arrested one person, who was found with some of the stolen electronics, but investigations are still ongoing to recover other equipment and arrest all those connected to this robbery,” Senior Supt Urbain Mwiseneza, the Central region Police Spokesperson, said.

The suspect and the recovered equipment were picked from a house in Nyamirambo, a Kigali city suburb last Saturday, SSP Mwiseneza added.

He is currently detained at Nyamirambo Police station.

Mwiseneza also disclosed that footage from the insurance company indicates that only two people were involved in this robbery.

He also said they are yet to find any evidence linking any of the insurance company’s employees, to the theft.

He advised the businesses community to install security gadgets in their facilities like CCTV cameras to aid in identifying crimes.
