Rwanda has been eagerly waiting for any request from Burundi or the region to help investigate the bodies which have appeared on the Burundian side of Lake Rweru, says President Paul Kagame of Rwanda.

“We have actually said we are interested in working with Burundi or the region to find out what happened,” said Kagame in interview with American network MSNBC. The interview was recorded on Saturday but was aired on Tuesday.

The lake is on the shared border of the two countries, but corpses have mysteriously surfaced on Burundi site. Immediately the issue emerged in August, Rwandan officials came out to give public indication of their willingness to work with Burundi investigate the mystery, but the government in Bujumbura has not made any request.

Last week, the Rwanda CID chief Theos Badege said Rwanda was open to any request for collaboration to investigate the issue.
