Nyamasheke: Local leaders to be trained on settling disputes

Nyamasheke: Local leaders to be trained on settling disputes

Jean Baptiste Habyarimana, mayor of Nyamasheke district said the district is set to organize training for local leaders on settling residents’ disputes.

The mayor revealed this while Rwanda prepares to close good governance month on October, 24.

This comes after many residents queued to have their problems solved every time the mayor visited a certain sector during the governance month.

Mayor Jean Baptiste Habyarimana disclosed that more effort is needed to enable local leaders to meet the residents at grass root level and resolve their problems without delaying.

However, the mayor commended the residents for a big step taken in embracing good governance though some leaders are not yet able to resolve resident’s disputes due to different reasons.

“It’s evident that residents have started playing a role in good governance now. Before, every party whether wrong or right had a supporter which is a different case today as residents report poor services among others,” he said.

On the side of residents, they request the authorities to visit them often and listen to their problems as well as settling them.

Good governance month started on September, 22across the country.
