    CAR President decorates Rwandan peacekeepers

    HE President Samba Panza awards Rwanda Peacekeepers in Central African Republic

    Bangui, 21 January 2015

    Her Excellency Samba Panza, President of the Central African Republic, has awarded medals and certificates to Rwanda Defence Forces peacekeepers (Rwanda Battalion 1) who have been serving in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) since 16 January 2014. The colourful event took place on 21 January 2015, at the CAR Presidency Office in presence of members of the cabinet.

    President Samba told the Peacekeepers that the award received was a sign of recognition of their bravery, devotion and professionalism they demonstrated within twelve months in preserving peace and security in the Central African Republic, Bangui.

     “We can’t forget to appreciate you. If you had not intervened, we do not know what could have happened. Thank you again”, she said.

    Lt Col Jean Paul Karangwa, the Rwandan Contingent Commander in MINUSCA thanked all Stakeholders, Security Organs both national and international for their collaboration and support that enabled the Peacekeepers to carry out successfully their mandate in MINUSCA.
