    Gicumbi: Youth in drug abuse fighting Initiative

    As part of the Police strategy to fight crime in Gicumbi district have vowed to fight crimes such as drug abuse and corruption

    They made the commitment during their meeting with the police officials held on Sunday 9, in Gicumbi district.

    Richard Rudasingwa, one of youth volunteers pledged that his group will be the model in fighting drug abuse, and other crimes.

    He said members of the organisation vowed to abstain from drug abuse, to teach their colleagues to refrain from the vice.

    Senior Superintendent, Karangwa Murenge, the police commandant in Gicumbi district urged the youth to be part of anti-crime initiatives such as neighborhood watch, provide timely information about anything that might affect the security of their community.

    “We are very sure this project will have positive impact in the district as most project involving youth usually do for they are the strength of the nation,” he said.

    The meeting was also attended by the district mayor, Alexandre Mvuyekure who appealed to the youth to exhibit high level of patriotism, among other values of a good citizen.
