Rwanda army gives new hope to genocide survivors
Rwanda Military Hospital (RMH) is conducting Army Week medical activity by offering special treatment to the Genocide survivors living with different cases of diseases.
The medical outreach organized in partnership with FARG, Government Fund for Genocide Survivors is being undertaken at Kinazi and Gitwe Hospitals in Ruhango district. The activity started on Monday 9th March 2015 will end on Friday 13 March.
According to Dr Lt Col Alfred Rwema who is now heading the outreach medical program in Ruhango 1700 patients have already benefited for treatment only from Monday to Tuesday.
Alivera Mukabaramba, the State Minister to the Ministry of Local Government officially launched the outreach Army Week on Wednesday 11th March 2015 at Kinazi Hospital where she toured different medical services and talked to survivors. She said that the partnership between FARG and Rwanda Military Hospital has made it possible to treat vulnerable survivors across the country since 2012 where about 31,000 have benefited from the exercise in 25 districts of the country.  Minister Mukabaramba said that with such outreach medical program survivors were treated by doctors from RMH who joined them in their districts. And difficult cases have been transferred at RMH Hospital, Kanombe or elsewhere in other Hospitals for necessary follow up.
Col Ben Karenzi, RMH commandant said that Rwanda Defence Forces remain dedicated to serve the people. He said that RMH availed specialists doctors for Army Week services who are offering clinical services related to different specialties such as orthopedics, gynecology, urology, internal medicine, psychology, psychiatry, ophthalmology, dermatology, dental, ENT and general surgery.
