    Drug crime surges in Kamonyi

    Drug crime has increased in Kamonyi during the past six months, as the true scale of the district’s illicit drug problem is revealed.

    This comes after drug dealing cases were reported 15 times in January and February 2015 as revealed recently during the general security meeting.

    Drug crime surges in Kamonyi

    A lot of drugs were found in Runda, Rugarika and Nyamiyaga sectors of Kamonyi while drug dealing was on a low level previously.

    Talking to this website, Supertendant Vita AMUZA, Kamonyi District Police Commander commended cooperation between local leaders and security organs in fighting against drug dealing and usage.

    “I commend the local administrative levels for  their daily support. This time we are unveiling big quantities of drugs unlike before” said the police commander.

    Jacques Rutsinga, mayor of Kamonyi district asked cell and sector leaders to follow up on residents’ welfare, saying that being close to residents is the best way of landing on necessary information concerning drugs and other crimes.

    Apart from drug dealing, other crimes highlighted include robbery, suicide and rape among others.
