Gatsibo district official resigns
The Gatsibo District executive secretary, William Rukundo has officially submitted in his resignation letter asking to be relieved of his duties, the District Mayor, Gasana Richard, confirmed.
The Mayor said that the district executive secretary handed in the letter this Friday on November 20, 2015 and a decision has to be taken before his resignation is granted.
“I have received the letter but the district advisory council has to meet so as to discuss the final recommendation on his resignation, whether to grant it or not†Gasana said.
District sources say that Rukundo could have resigned as a result of being involved in unscrupulous district tender bidding processes of which he has been asked to appear before prosecution several times this month.
Rukundo’s resignation comes less than two weeks after another batch of three sector executive secretaries in Rusizi district, also resigned from their responsibilities citing personal reasons, though reports indicate that they were involved in financial mismanagement.
The resigned local leader in Rusizi included; Lea Uwirereye, Victor Sebagabo and Placide Sibomana– the former bosses of Gashonga, Nkungu, and Nkombo sectors respectively; and Murenzi Leonard of Rusizi – in charge of district Business Development Fund (BDF).
