Gen Joseph Nzabamwita Named New Intelligence Chief
Brig Gen Joseph Nzabamwita has been as named new secretary general at the national intelligence and security services (NISS).
The former Rwandan top spy boss, Lt Gen Karenzi Karake has been appointed as defense and security advisor to the president of Rwanda.
Brig Gen Nzabamwita has been serving as the army spokesman and has been one of the longest serving in the post.
In an announcement by the Presidentâ€™s office, Lt Col Patrick Karuretwa, was also appointed Principal Private Secretary to the President.
In February this year, President Paul Kagame made major changes in the Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) appointing General Jacques Musemakweli as the new Army Chief of Staff replacing Lt. Gen. Frank Mushyo Kamanzi -who was of recent appointed as African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) force commander.
The president also dismissed the top military intelligence officer, Maj Gen Richard Rutatina who was serving as the Forcesâ€™ J2 (head of military intelligence) and reasons for his dismissal or eventual reappointment have been released yet.
