    Rwanda Among Safest Place To Walk At Night In Africa

    Gallup 2015 Global Emotions Report has ranked Rwanda as the safest place to walk at night in Africa and 5th globally.

    The report presents the results from Gallup’s latest measurements of these two indexes based on nearly 153,000 interviews with adults in 148 countries in 2014.

    It also ranked Rwanda is the best place to be a woman in Africa and 6th Globally via Global Competitiveness Report 2015 at a time when the World Bank has also ranked Rwanda as the Second easiest place to do business on the continent.

    This ranking comes at a time Rwanda is scheduled to host the World Economic Forum (WEF) on Africa this May 2016 at a time when the government has announced plans to increase on the entertainment activities in the capital Kigali, after a long ban on sound pollution.

    The latest UN Human Development Index ranks Rwanda as the world’s fastest developing country on the continent.

    Rwanda has reduced extreme poverty from 40 percent in 2000 to 16.3 percent in 2014. Poverty fell dramatically between 2005/6 and 2010/11, Rwanda’s GDP per capita increased to $633 in 2000 from $207 in 2013 and Between 2008 & 2014, #Rwanda moved 17 places up the Human Development Index (HDI) to 151 from 187- a first in the world.

    The Global Competitiveness Index 2013-14 ranked Rwanda 66th (world) and 3rd (Africa) for strong and well-functioning institutions.

    While addressing Rwandan diaspora during Rwanda Day-Canada, held in Toronto in September 2013, President Kagame said many people are surprised by Rwanda’s achievements because of the belief that it’s an impossible but for Rwandans its possible and a time to rise and shine.
