Rwanda remains unchanged in Fifa rankings

Rwanda’s soccer team, Amavubi have remained unchanged at number 87th in the latest May edition of the FIFA/Cola-Cola World Ranking released on Thursday in Zurich, Switzerland.

With no A-international matches played in April, the May edition of the FIFA/Cola-Cola World Ranking provided a brief moment of security for teams eager to hold onto their top positions.

Amavubi also maintained their 21st position on the continental level and second in the CECAFA region, behind Uganda Cranes (72), third is Kenya (116) followed by Burundi (122), Ethiopia is 123rd while Tanzania is 129th and sixth in CECAFA region.

Rwanda will seek to improve the ranking this month when they play Senegal on May 28 in an international friendly before hosting Mozambique in the 2017 AFCON Group H qualifier on June 4.

In Africa, Algeria remain the continent’s top-ranked, followed by Ivory Coast, Ghana, Senegal and Egypt. Cape Verde Islands, Tunisia, DR Congo, Guinea and Congo-Brazzaville round out the top 10.

Argentina has maintained their place at the top of the global list, followed by Belgium, Chile, Colombia and world champions Germany.

The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be published on 2 June 2016.
