Rwandan Ernest Sugira surrounded by Congolese players during the 2016 CHAN quarterfinal tie.

DR Congo side AS Vita has agreed to break the bank by issuing $130,000 (Rwf.102.7m) for Rwanda International striker Ernest Sugira, a feat which will make the AS Kigali star the most the expensive player to be bought out of the Rwandan National League.

Congolese giants AS Vita have agreed to part with $130,000 (Rwf. 102, 700, 000m) for the signature of Sugira who has disclosed that he will be leaving the Rwandan outfit at the end of the season in July.

AS Vita Coach Florent Ibenge who also doubles as the coach of the 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN) winners DR Congo has been a great admirer of the striker who is in his 20s.

Ibenge was in Kigali last weekend to reportedly seal the deal and he hopes Sugira will boost the side going into the group stages of the CAF Confederations Cup and their chase for the league title.

With the CAF Champions League set for next month, Sugira’s move is likely to hit a snag as he he disclosed that he won’t leave until the current football season ends in July.

AS Vita is among eight teams that have made it this far including Al Ahly, Asec Mimosas, Enyimba, ES Setif, Wydad Casablanca, Zamalek and Zesco.

Sugira’s star shone brightest at the CHAN tournament that was in Rwanda where he scored three goals at the tournament, two against Gabon and the other against Congo at the quarterfinal stage of the competition.
