Kayonza district accelerates saving culture
Kayonza district was nominated among the country’s top five districts that were innovative over the past fiscal year. The reason for the 5th position is because, Kayonza residents made encouraging strides as regards the saving culture.
This was in a selection carried out by association of Rwandan districts and Kigali town (RALGA) to choose and award innovative districts. Kayonza district was awarded 3 million Rwandan francs for its innovative actions in this fiscal year.
Kayonza district officer in charge of cooperatives Rose Dusenge said “Kayonza has built saving cooperatives’ houses in each of its sector. Each sector has either completed or is about to complete construction of its SACCO bank.â€
It is not the first time Kayonza district is given the an economic development award since Emmanuel Habineza the Rwanda Cooperative Association governor recently appreciated Kayonza district’s recommendable strides in economic development.
As the Rwanda government embarks on turning Rwanda into a knowledge based economy, a number of components are being developed from the grass root level, one of them being developing a saving culture.
