The agricultural production and togetherness are some of the benefits of Ubudehe program in which residents of Sabusaro cell in Kansi sector in Gisagara District are enjoying
People who are in Ubudehe program in this sector say that they now harvest enough produce from their fields and they practice animal husbandry with the help of this program and are no longer poor and above these, they are able to get together and share a meal.
“We have much cassava and we can now provide for ourselves and we are no longer poor and we were given the seeds we planted by Ubudehe program, we have livestock and we give each other and we even get time to come together and share a meal†said Alphonse Mutabazi.
Ubudehe program is specifically based on 3 things which are crop husbandry, animal husbandry and togetherness. This program has developed many people in their social welfare as the agronomist of Kansi sector who also heads Ubudehe program in this sector Jerome Rutaburingoga explained.
“people have now improved in their social welfare and they are the ones who select those to be supported with medical insurance (mituelle de santé), they sensitized people to join sector SACCO (Savings and Credit Cooperatives) and now they understand all about savings, they participate in land use consolidation and produce more and they were taught how to store their crops so as to get seeds in the next cultivating period.†Said Rutaburingoga.
As the administration of Kansi sector reported, after the introduction of this program in 2008 in 29 villages that make up this sector, many families now own cows and goats and people give to their neighbours and because they do almost all things together, it has increased their togetherness
