Nyamagabe residents told to engage in developmental projects
As the second phase of EDPRS is to kickoff in Rwanda, Nyamagabe residents are being told to have an active hand in both suggestions and directives into district developmental projects.
This was during a meeting of nongovernmental organizations operating in Nyamagabe district that took place recently June 2012.
Nyamagabe District Mayor, Philbert Mugisha said that “every citizen has the right and should have a hand in deciding how developmental projects that are meant for him or her should be delivered. They need to have a hand since commencement of each project till the end just as the Imihigo are set from the lower grass root levels.â€
Emmanuel Ntakirutimana one of the Nyamagabe residents said that usually every citizen gets a hand in the developmental programs but claims that there are others over which they never have a hand in.
“For example we do not decide which places that are allocated to villages estates yet we are the people who live there.†Asked Ntakirutimana
Rwanda has for nearly the last 2 decades been embarking on the developmental path, which sees a number of set targets some achievable one a yearly basis others 5 year term and the bigger vision 2020.
