Ngoma: fighting crimes is part of independence-Mayor
Aphrodis Nambaje, Mayor for Ngoma district has said that total independence means fighting crimes of any nature.
Â
This was revealed while addressing the gathering at Kibungo INATEK University during preparations for Independence Day celebrations to be held July 1st 2012.
Aphrodis Nambaje asserts that being independent is fighting bad deeds and not standing by and watch crimes committed.
“Nobody can allow a bad thing to happen and say he is independent. RPF solidiers refused to watch genocide continuing and fought to stop it. This is a good example we should all follow to fight crimes happening in our areas,†Nambaje narrates
Theophile Muhayimana, a lecturer at INATEK explains that after Rwanda got independence, the government that followed brought discrimination that made some Rwandese slaughter their brothers and sisters in 1994 genocide.
Although the theme of the discussion says “Rwanda in total independenceâ€, some residents confessed that independence could not prevail when Rwandese were not given equal opportunities in education, leadership and others.
However, residents revealed that independence is being achieved because all Rwandese now are equal and enjoy equal opportunities in their mother land.
Rwandans owes this success to FPR leadership headed by the president of Rwanda H.E Paul Kagame, adds Muhayimana
While closing the discussion, Ngoma mayor emphasized that this is not the time to keep quiet about crimes but time to change Rwanda’s bad history.
