Gatsibo: KGSF marks memorial period closure by community work
 Kiziguro Genocide against Tutsi Survivors Forum (KGSF) has ended the 100 days memorial period on the 30th.June.2012 by cleaning the Kiziguro genocide memorial site and supported three widows and genocide survivors.Â
This youth formed this forum so as to get together and look for solutions to the problems their district has including using what the district has to attain its development, supporting poor families to develop, and protecting Kiziguro genocide memorial site.
About 12,000 bodies of genocide victims are buried and writing the history of the genocide specifically on how it was applied in Kiziguro during the genocide period.
After the community work that was characterised by cleaning on the Kiziguro genocide memorial site, they had a meeting that brought together members of KGSF and the Kiziguro residents.
The coordinator of KGSF Jean Nepo Rwema said that they formed the forum so that they can play their role in building and developing their home district.
He said that this forum is made up of educated youth from different universities and they want to surpass the bad history that characterised Gatsibo district and develop it.
Esperance Uwimpuhwe the vice mayor for social affairs said that KGSF’s actions will help the district to increase its actions of development and promote good relationship between people living in. She said this because many people had refused to return back to this district to avoid bad memories but the fact that this youth wants to help it attain development will call back people who were afraid to come back to face their fears.
Esperance Uwimpuhwe said that this youth deciding to work in their home district is meant to give hope to the districts residents and then work towards their development and it is prepared to work with whoever supports it so as people to get development and better social welfare.
