During the occasion to start the training, vice mayor in charge of social affairs in Huye district Mrs. Christine Niwemugeni, welcomed the participants and said: “We have been depending on the Ubudehe program figures. It’s you now to help us know through census the exact data to base on while planning.”

Major Bernard Niyomugabo, a participant added: “You cannot plan what you should do without data. For census to be a success, you have to train data collectors. So sacrifice your time and activities to learn more in this training.”

Mrs. Hope Tumukunde, Vice Mayor of Kigali city reminded participants that none of them should miss a day of the training because they are being trained to train data collectors. “If you decide to do something, start and finish it.”

The second phase training is meant for 832 people from 416 sectors of Rwanda, says Vice mayor

Mrs. Tumukunde explains, participants from Kigali city are being trained in Huye district, those from Southern province in Muhanga district, participants from Western province in Karongi district, Northern province participants in Musanze district while  those from Eastern province are being trained in Bugesera district.

Juvénal Munyarugerero, coordinator for general census of population and housing in Kigali town asserts that the reason Kigali participants went to Huye is to distract themselves from what they do and family problems and concetrate on the training.

Participants, who work in the districts the trainings are being held, were sent to other provinces for training.

The first phase training was meant for workers in charge of statistics and education at district level, Local defence, prisons and police officials.
