Pascal Nkikabahizi, one of the members of Kayonza district advisory committee and Head of economic commission who says fencing has started confirms Akagera National Park fencing will be complete with the financial year of 2012/2013.

On the district financial budget, Rwanda Development Board will contribute close to Rwf5million to finance the park fencing, Nkikabahizi adds.

A big number of people that had their crops and property destroyed, and they wait to be compensated, said that fencing the park would give them peace.

Residents of Ndego sector in Kayonza district complained about wild animals destroying their crops to Eastern province Governor, Odette Uwamariya when she visited the area towards the end of 2011.

Ndego, Murundi and Mwili sectors in Kayonza district border with Akagera Park, and residents requested the fencing of the park in order to solve the problem.
