    Rwanda : CPCs conclude itorero

    Rwanda | Rwanda Map500 Community Policing Committees (CPC’s) concluded their itorero at the Rwanda Peace and Leadership Centre This week. This was the 3rd phase of a 10 days training.

    The institute which is located in  Nkumba, Kinoni sector, Burera district  trained  CPC’s on the value of the Rwandan culture, good behavior, how to ensure security, combating family conflicts, good governance, performance appraisals among other things.

    Addressing the CPC’s the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Emmanuel Gasana urged them to maintain development and play a central role in crime reduction by timely sharing information with Police.

    Gasana reminded them that security is the pillar of National development.  ” Without security, there is no development,” he noted.

    He assured CPC’s that Rwanda National Police will continue to cooperate with them in crime prevention through timely reporting and timely sharing of information.

    Boniface Rucagu, the chairman of Itorero ry’Igihugu, highlighted the importance of inducting CPC’s into the national initiatives. He noted that CPC’s are an important part of the Rwandan society as they form one of security pillars.

    He congratulated the participants for their behavior and discipline during the period spent at the center. “It’s important that you get more skills, this will lead to the reduction of crime as a result of impressive work you are yet to do,” he said.

    CPC’s from Gatsibo district who were part of the training called on their colleagues to be exemplary in fighting crimes such as drugs, theft, family conflicts and work hand in hand with security organs such as police, army, and others.
