Rwanda | Bugesera: Youth told to seek advice from recognized centre
Alphonse Nkuranga, Executive Director of National Youth Council
Young people in Bugesera district have been asked to seek advice from the youth center set up by National Youth Centre to help youth achieve development.
Executive secretary of National Youth Council, Alphonse Nkuranga says that youth fetch important knowledge from their centre depending on what they choose to do since they advise them to form cooperatives and give them necessary facilities.
Nkuranga denotes: “It’s good to see how the youth council helps youth in different ways. We have found 17 youth clubs here, some in anti-Aids clubs, others taking computer lessons, and many more.â€
At this youth centre, workers together with doctors and nurses organize a day for free HIV/AIDS testing and provide counseling to the youth basing on their statuses.
The executive secretary laments “It was requested that ARVs be provided for those found positive because they feel shy when sent to other centres for the medicine. Youth centre administration wishes that youth found positive should be followed up in terms of treatment.â€
Bugesera youth centre receives close to 300 youth everyday whereby between 10 and 25 youth test for HIVÂ and out of 50 youth that test for AIDS, one if found positive, explains Marthe Munezero in charge of testing and counseling youth after.
