Rwanda | Rusizi: Nkombo residents asked to put emphasis in education
This was resolved by Céléstin Kabahizi, governor of western province on July 19th 2012 in Nkombo sector during the event to lay the foundation stone on Bugumira 9 year’s basic education classrooms and teachers’ quarters building site.
The event that gathered Heads of security and police in Rusizi district and Nkombo residents that live in other places, was done on unusual community work by collecting the building materials and putting them on the site.
After the community work, talks were held on sensitizing residents to participate in government programs like contributing for medical insurance, family planning use, modern farming and providing local security.
On the other side, Nkombo residents confirmed they have got infrastructure; water, electricity, schools and a health centre but they still face family conflicts caused by polygamy and poverty.
Although they blame poverty on lack of training on job creation, Nkombo residents are thankful to the President of Rwanda H.E Paul Kagame for thinking about them.
Mayor of Rusizi district Oscar Nzeyimana assured the residents that the district will continue to do what is possible to develop Nkombo sector and to resolve the problems they have.
Talking to the journalists, Western province governor Céléstin Kabahizi, advised residents to embark on farming instead of crossing over to Congo through illegal routes without proper travel documents since there is war.
Nkombo is one of the 18 sectors that make Rusizi district with over 16000 residents of which 70 percent depend on fishing, cultivation and trade.
