Rwanda : Local Defense visits Ntarama genocide memorial site
Rwandan  Local Defense Force in Bugesera district has once more explored more knowledge, and learnt a big lesson about history of the 1994 genocide against Tutsi after visiting the Ntarama genocide memorial site in Bugesera district on the 22nd.July.2012.
This will make them keep the security of people well and make sure that genocide is never done again in Rwanda and anywhere in the world.
About 127 local defenses made a quite walk and crossed the Nyamata town to Ntarama memorial site where they were explained the history that characterized the 1994 genocide against Tutsi in Nyamata, took time to pay their respects to genocide victims and laid wreathes of flowers to where they are laid to rest.
Emmanuel Rutagengwa the coordinator of Local Defense Force in Bugesera district said that visiting this memorial site was to make those doing security to learn a lesson about the mistakes those in security sector in 1994 made.
“We decided that since we keep people’s security to join all Rwandans to fight the ideology planted by those who massacred the innocent people and to learn from their mistakes.â€Â Emmanuel Rutagengwa explained.
After understanding the bad things that were done during the 1994 genocide, they are going to make local people understand the effects of genocide in people and to respect human rights as Pierre Claver Nyamaswa who works in Kamabuye sector and who also visited Ntarama memorial site.
Ntarama Catholic Church where about 45,306 people were killed during the 1994 genocide against Tutsis who had gone to hide hoping to find refuge there was turned into Ntarama genocide memorial site.
