RGAC briefs local leaders about its responsibilities
Members of the Rwanda Governance Advisory Council were on 22nd December 2011 in Kirehe district, Eastern Province of Rwanda to brief local leaders from district to cell level the responsibilities and objectives of the institution.
Local leaders were informed that the mission of RGAC is to promote the principles of good governance and monitor the practices of good governance in public institutions and conduct research in civic, political and corporate domains, for
Kirehe district Mayor Protais Murayire observed that the Rwanda Governance Advisory Council has come to complement the district’s efforts in promoting the pillars of good governance.
Dr. Félicien Usengumukiza, a lecturer at the National University of Rwanda and Economic governance researcher in RGAC says that the council is responsible for general governance and so it would be good for local leaders to do different things all residents aware in order to provide good services.
In order for the flow of good governance, Dr Félicien believes that the survey conducted on Kirehe district governance shows that challenges faced by local leaders in general are minor.
Rwanda governance advisory council is an independent body, created by government and given a task to do research and advise government and its institution on how they can be well governed, with aim of enhancing people’s welfare.
