Rwanda : Performance contracts must be reasonable, Governor tells Mayors
Northern Province Governor Aime Bosenibamwe has asked District Mayors to pledge few but quality performance contracts matching Rwanda government’s vision on poverty eradication. Â
On July 24th 2012, during the meeting with mayors in Northern Province to discuss on the 2012-2013 performance contracts, Governor said districts should pledge what brings lasting change in residents’ social affairs.
Although pledges are not implemented in the expected year, they give a picture of what is needed so that they are executed the following year and benefit residents in a long term, asked Governor Bosenibamwe.
The Northern Governor denotes that as Rwanda moves towards vision 2020, residents must fight poverty. This means that Northern Province has to do everything possible to implement performance contracts since it comes first in fighting poverty.â€
He adds:  “That’s why performance contracts should be focusing on contributing to the government’s vision of uplifting its residents from poverty.â€
Governor Bosenibamwe stresses that some leaders pledge a lot of things that fail to change or improve residents’ social development.
Northern Province leaders are asked to take time and study the contracts before and pledge what they are capable of executing instead of lying to Rwandans.
