Muhanga: Residents play a big role in governance
There seem to be wrong perception in reasoning on how government should behave for her people, a habit that was challenged by the vice mayor Francois Uhagaze telling Muhanga residents in an event to continue the good governance month; that  nothing cannot be reached without the participation of people.
Uhagaze told them,  having good governance month doesn’t mean good governance is practiced during this month but this month shows Rwandese and those outside Rwanda that good governance is everybody’s responsibility.
“Good governance is based on daily activities of residents because we can’t do anything without their knowledge and consent. So having a month of good governance is a chance to showcase residents’ role in different ways†added Francois.
He continues to say that they intend to do what looks like difficult to the district during this good governance month with the use of experts to solve the problems.
“In our district we used to see many crimes like beating among others due to drug abuse among many youth. This is the time to stop what we have been seing as the impossible†continued Francois.
It was further known that the crimes they decided to fight normally happen in town unlike in the village where these crimes are rarely heard of, or completely not.
During the event there were different competitions on good governance inform of drama, composed songs and poems talking about good governance. While competitions were organized at district level, it is expected that the good governance week will end on 31st January 2012 on a national level.
