Rwanda | Gakenke: Newly elected Children representatives to advocate for school dropouts
Children who were elected to represent others from sector levels to the National Children’s Council have promised to improve the quality of education of their fellow students who usually drop out of schools due to family problems, the election was on 21st.Aug.2012 in Gakenke sector Gakenke district.
These children promised those who elected them that they will work to ensure that all children would go to school even street children who were driven there by family problems they will be advocated for.
They said that they will put among their priorities fighting for gender based violence (GBV) and sugar mummies/ daddies that tempt young children with sweet things and make them do sexual intercourse that usually result into unwanted early pregnancies and HIV/AIDS.Â
All those that were elected promised to reach out to all children and learn about their problems and advocate for them in upper levels to get solutions. Genevieve Bayavuge a worker in charge of social affairs in Gakenke sector asked the elected children to behave well in the district level election on the 22nd.Aug.2012.
Aime Bruce Nsenga was elected as the president and Clementine Mukamana became the vice president.
