Local leaders asked to learn from demobilised soldiers (Inkeragutabara)

On 8th December 2011, during the announcing of over 160 demobilised solidiers from Rulindo and Gakenke that will be sponsored to go for vocational training, Local Leaders were called upon to be near demobilised solidiers and learn from them.

Niyonteze Clemence, Director General of Rwanda Demobilisation and Reintergration Commission in Northern Province says that this support is for solidiers that were demobilised between 2009 and 2011.

Clemence called upon those in charge of social welfare in sectors and well respected Elders in cells that attended the event to follow and listen very well so that they learn skills from them.

Capt. Rukundo Aimable, who works in Northern province cautioned some demobilised solidiers who will sell the materials given to them to use in school saying that they will be punished by the law.

« Whoever sells the materials will be charged like the one who sells Girinka cow who is charged, sentenced and pays back » adds Captain Rukundo.

In a bid to tighten security during the Christmas season, demobilised solidiers were told to join efforts with local leaders and Security sections by giving information in preventing crimes. Also, they were asked to participate in various activities of  government development programmes.

The skills that will be taught in the vocational school include tailoring, building, carpentry, machinery and hotelerian to the demobilised solidiers from congo-kinshasha forests.

Apart from providing skills, Rwanda Demobilisation and Reintergration Commission helped the war casualities by giving them shelter and medical care.
