Rwanda | Gicumbi: MIDIMAR donates livestock to former refugees
In order to reintegrate refugees into a normal life, MIDIMAR has donated livestock to the former refugees in Gicumbi district.
27 pigs and 28 goats were on September 13th 2012 donated to the residents to help them improve on the standards of living, reveals Elyse Karyango; executive secretary of Rutare sector in Gicumbi district.
According to MIDIMAR administration, Rwanda is trying hard so that no Rwandese remains a refugee and even those who come back home are given reintegrated in normal life and given materials to build a new life on.
Gaspard Murekezi, in charge of reintegration in MIDIMAR says donating livestock is intended to improve social affairs of the former refugees and other vulnerable residents.
“This helps them feel home in the Rwandese society and a sign that their country needs them and is happy to have them back home,†highlights Murekezi.
One of the former refugees said they are going to take care of the animals to get manure for their gardens and money for upkeep.
These residents are thankful to the government of Rwanda for the support and reintegrating them into their society.
