Rwanda | Nyamasheke: Midimar and Red Cross to sign partnership agreement
As a way of speeding up rescue mission to residents, MIDIMAR is set to sign partnership agreement with Red Cross volunteers in some sectors of Nyamasheke.
According to Eric Budederi, Head of Disaster management in the MIDMAR (ministry of disaster management and refugee affairs), rescue could delay after the occurrence but volunteer groups of Red Cross in different sectors will be coming to residents rescue immediately and report to the concerned authorities.
The volunteer groups that have been in existence in some sectors will get training by Midimar to equip them with first aid skills and how to address the problem to MIDIMAR for necessary help.
In addition, the ministry will provide equipments to the volunteers for use in first aid.
Pierre Karemera, one of the volunteers revealed that rescue has been among their duties and promised MIDIMAR to continue working with them in the times of disasters.
Midimar signed partnership agreement with Red Cross and it had come to Nyamasheke district to meet with Red Cross volunteers for the first time and explain on partnership program.
The partnership program has been applied to the areas prone to disasters like Nyabihu, Rubavu, Burera and Musanze districts and it is going to extend to other districts.
