City Master Plan nears completion
Kigali City Council, in collaboration with consulting firm Surbana International Consultants of Singapore are this Friday set to hold an update on the final draft for the much anticipated City Master Plan.
The presentation will focus on Kicukiro and Gasabo Districts as the map for the entire city as a whole is yet to be completed. The designers opted instead for a District-by-District conceptualization.
Speaking to reporters in the run-up to the presentation yesterday, the Director of the Kigali Construction and Urban planning One Stop Centre, Liliane Mupende revealed that a “comprehensive and detailed City Master Plan was just around the corner.
“We are now in the final stages of the project and in January we’ll be able to provide our citizens with a comprehensive and detailed Master Plan” she said.
Designers and consultants alike have been toiling for the past 10 months designing the City Plan, which sources say will designate Nyarugenge as “The Financial Hub”, Gasabo the “Administrative Centre” and Kicukiro the “Knowledge Hub” among many promising and exciting features of a new and improved capital city.
