    Western Province : Plan of action to focus on economic prosperity

    The 2012 Plan of action for the Western Province will focus mainly on economic development with much emphasis in creating projects meant to support the Youth and Women.

     

    This was disclosed by the Executive Secretary of the Western Province Jabo Paul at the closure of the two day retreat which had brought together all district Executive Secretaries from the Province. Commenting on the 2012 Provincial Plan of action, Jabo Paul said :

    « Our plan of action has to focus on economic development activities with the aim of reducing poverty ».

     

    Jabo urged local leaders to double efforts in sensitizing citizens to create income generating projects aimed at improving their social wefare. He also asked leaders to support all initiatives geared towards improving the wellbeing of women and the youth.

    As part of extending develoomental initiatives close to the population,  the Executive Secretary of Nyabihu district Habyarimana Emmanuel disclosed plans of constructing a modern hotel near Gishwati forest. He said the hotel will provide employment to local residents around Gishwati.

     

    Nyabihu district also promised to take concrete measures against natural disasters which have been a major challenge for the district in implementing and realizing some of the performance contracts. The district indicated the failure of some development partners to fulfill their pledges as another problem hindering the achievement of all set goals.
