Usabyimana Jean Chrisostome from Ruyanza cell said land titles will help solve land disputes. “With these land titles, people won’t be able to forge land documents anymore. Our descendants will keep them as testimonials they can use when need be.”

Among the documents given include lease agreements on agricultural land for 99 years, land title and the land map showing the boundaries.

Legal couples were requested to come together for their land titles since they both have equal rights on their land property.

The mayor of Kamonyi district Rutsinga Jacques said most of the challenges the district was faced with are land disputes. “You have gotten your land titles, exploit your land to the maximum to develop yourselves since you have no obstructions” Rutsinga told Kamonyi district residents who had just received their titles.

Uwamariya Florentine from Kambyeyi cell said she will fully use her land since there will be no more interruptions and that the land title gives her full right to acquire a bank loan.

Mukamana Esperance, from the land title department in the ministry of natural resources (southern province of Rwanda) urged everyone to quickly get their land titles from their cell offices and keep them safely because getting a copy is costly and time consuming.
