China grants a Rwf 5 billion interest-free loan to Rwanda
Chinese Vice-Minister of Commerce Chen Jian, and Rwanda’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Louise MUSHIKIWABO signed an agreement of more than Rwf 5billion that will see the country’s infrastructures uplifted. Â
Minister MUSHIKIWABO said the agreement is a sign of strong bilateral ties between the two states. Rwanda’s Foreign Affairs Minister also stated that Rwanda and China share a lot in common and both countries aspire for same values and same vision, therefore, Rwandan and Chinese people are committed to further strengthening both economic and technical cooperation.
Chinese Vice-Minister of Commerce Chen Jian, pledged continuous collaboration on behalf of China. He said he would work tirelessly to attracting more Chinese investors into Rwanda. Last year (August 2011), Rwanda and China signed a similar agreement worth $ 18 million. China is a major partner of Rwanda in many sectors of development including education, health, infrastructure, trade and industry.
Chinese Vice-Minister of Commerce Chen Jian is part of a delegation comprised of 22 top Chinese officials who came to Rwanda (January 10th, 2012) for a three-day visit to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries. The delegation, headed by Li Yuanchao, member of the Political Bureau and Secretariat of the Communist Party of China (CPC), also held talks with officials from the National Unity and Reconciliation Commission (NURC).
