RWANDA EXPORTS ON THE RISE
Rwanda’s exports (goods and services) have increased by 31.7% in 2011, according to the Ministry of Trade and Industry thanks to growth in mining sector, tea and coffee.
The government worked hard to control inflation after it increased for several months up to October 2011 when it stood at 7.8 percent.
Despite its geographic location (landlocked), Rwanda has constantly stood its ground in the region, racing ahead of bigger economies such as Uganda in terms of ease-of-doing business, and going head to head with Kenya in trying to create a world class Information Communication Technology sector.
The country expects its economy to increase by 7.6 percent in 2012 after growing by 8.8 percent in 2011 on the back of growth in construction, mining and manufacturing.
