Rwanda | Districts trained in capacity building planning

In a bid to improve the Capacity building Strategies for Local Governments, the Rwanda Governance Board has trained district leaders in formulating their district capacity building plans.

    Districts trained in capacity

The trainings were launched in two regions, in Muhanga and Musanze districts. Those trained include officials from districts of Kamonyi, Rutsiro, Karongi, Ruhango na Muhanga, (southern province) and Nyabihu, Musanze, Burera, Gakenke, Rulindo na Rubavu (northern province).

This training will enable the selected district capacity building technical teams to formulate a five years capacity-building-action plan for their respective districts. The trainees acquired skills of implementing such strategies, tools needed, and monitoring and evaluation of the plans.

The trainees said that the skills were timely and need to implement the district activities and plans with the involvement of the community.

Samuel Majyambere, a good governance official, said that “capacity of leaders is highly needed and such plans will define will role of each person can be identified with the responsibility embowered on them”

Tharcisse Niyonzima, an official of social welfare in Rutsiro, said “this is a sign of government desire to empower grass root levels to overcome their difficulties so as to achieve the development”

Similar trainings will be held in HUye and Rwamagana and Kigali city. The program will be preceded by each district coming up with a capacity building plan, before the end of July this 2012.
