Kayonza: Mayor Barns local brew ‘Kanyanga’ from district

    Kayonza Mayor Barns local brew

The mayor of Kayonza district John Mugabo has ordered leaders of the grassroots to greatly participate in fighting against the brewing of local spirit called ‘Kanyanga’ in the district.

He said this in a security meeting that was attended by leaders at all levels in the district after realizing that almost all crimes in the district are a result of drugs like marijuana and the local brew ‘Kanyanga’.

The mayor said all people in the district of Kayonza who brew ‘Kanyanga’ should stop so that may be they can still deal with the one imported from neighboring countries.

Any person caught brewing ‘Kanyanga’ will be seriously punished so he or she can be an example to others and the campaign of trucking them down is going to be emphasized. Police officials in Kayonza district presented a report which comprised of cases like hooliganism, fighting, damaging and rape all as a result of using ‘Kanyanga’ and marijuana.

The mayor of Kayonza said, “All these crimes come as a result of using ‘Kanyanga’ and marijuana because when you ask those criminals why they did so, they say they were under the influence of Kanyanga or marijuana”.

The authorities of Kayonza concluded the meeting with the resolution of discouraging residents of Kayonza from brewing ‘Kanyanga’ so that may be they can keep dealing with the one imported from neighboring districts of Tanzania and Uganda.
