Rwanda | Nyanza: Mayor hails government- resident partnership for fighting crime

In a recent security meeting aimed at eradicating increased crime in Nyanza, the district Mayor hailed the role of the government –resident partnership in fighting crime. The meeting attracted district/cell leaders and security officials {Police}.
“Despite the hiked number of criminal cases in February, one can’t fail to recognise the current co-operation between security organs and residents in reporting crimes,†remarked  Abdallah Murenzi, Nyanza district Mayor.
According to police records, criminal cases were 21 in January but rose to 66 in February.
Drug abuse, theft and defilement top the list of these crimes.
The district mayor called upon residents to share information about intended crimes, before they materialize, which he said will help in preventing crime and its consequences.
