As a way of tightening security between Rwanda and Burundi, Ngoma administration has asked its residents to use authorized borders while travelling to Burundi.

Residents say they are happy about the idea of using border posts because they will be travelling assured of security.

Ngoma sector is one of those sectors that border with Burundi which makes the residents of the two countries to have a special friendship that result in entering each others’ country freely for different reasons.

One resident from Ryakanyamiganda hill in Nyamirama cell says: “We have friends there and some of our daughters are married in Burundi like how some of their daughters are married here in Rwanda.”

Ngoma residents could use short cut routes to Burundi like through river Akanyaru which is closed now. Residents are asked to use border posts.

One Mukakalisa says: “When you use the border, you get identifications. In case of a problem, you get help as someone who had travelled into another country.”

Alfred Ruhumuriza, in charge of identifications in Ngoma district reveals that Ngoma sector administration made this decision so that security is tightened between the two countries.

The language of Rwandese in Ngoma sector is made of “Kirundi” language in addition to sharing everything with their neighboring Burundians.
