Kagame | Rusizi: ONATRACOM Boss instructs Rusizi officials to efficiently manage the boat offered by HE Paul Kagame
On 5th March 2012, the director of government of Rwanda’s transport company (ONATRACOM) Gakuba Theodore toured the President Paul Kagame’s gift (Boat) to residents of Nkombo, in Rusizi district.
The ONATRACTOM boss instructed Rusizi district officials to devise efficient measures of maintaining the over 80 passenger boat.
“You have to put up systematic governance of this boat where its income inflows and outflows are well accounted for. Otherwise we risk having in last for a short period with no gains for the citizens at all.†Said Niyonsaba
President Paul Kagame offered this boat to the residents of Rusizi on 09th February 2012.
The boat is supposed to sail along the route; Kamembe-Nkombo-Gafunzo-Karongi-Rubavu.
Whereas the road transport fee from Kamembe to Rubavu goes for 8,000Rwfrs on a 9 hours’ drive, the boat’s fee for the same route is 6,000 in just a 6 hours sail.
