Gakenke achieves 85% of development goals
The district of Gakenke is proud to have achieved 85% of the set goals as has been presented before the president of the Republic three months prior to assessment of performance contracts.Â
In a meeting that was held on the 29th of February 2012, the mayor of Gakenke district Nzamwita Deogratias revealed that the district hopes to achieve the set goals by 100% within the remaining three months.
The minister in charge Gender and family promotion Aloysea Inyumba appreciated the energy put in achieving the set goals compared to last year. “There is a lot of energy put in achieving the set goals of this year compared to last year so by all means they will all have to be achievedâ€, the Minister remarked.
All the set goals seem to be on the right track of being achieved but the district authorities are worried of not achieving the goal of distributing electricity in the trading centre of Nkoto which requires large sums of money compared to what they had prepared and the use of biogas is still low compared to other set goals.
Out of the 30 districts that make up Rwanda, Gakenke came last on the 30th position in achieving the set goals in the year 2010-2011 whereas its closest neighbouring district of Rulindo district came in the first position.
