Rwanda :National institute of Statistics to carryout census
Rwanda has revealed the fourth coming general census to be carried out in August this year has a great impact on National development.
The head of National institute of Statistics Juvenal Munyarugero while meeting with Nyanza district officials said the census will be carried out in all families and other institutions of residence.
The census will be aimed at finding out the living and economic standards of Rwandans and the relationship people and their development.
Numbers collected will be given to all stake holders who need statistic figures for national planning.
“The census will remove the rough estimates of people living Rwanda whereby exact figures of people living in provinces, districts, sectors, villages and in towns will all be provided to whoever needs them”, he said
The statistics will further be used in representing special groups of people like the women, children, the youth, the disabled, the old and so forth.
The meeting was attended by several executive secretaries from the district of Nyanza who said they are going to alert people in their sectors to be ready for the head count come August..
The mayor of Nyanza district Abdallah Murenzi said that people will be urged to give collect and accurate information when time for census comes.
“A person is asked how many times he eats in a day and tells you he does not remember when he last ate”, remarked Murenzi
For such reasons that can disrupt the objectives of carrying out a census, extensive sensitization will be required to make people understand the importance of census in the general development of the nation.
The general census is expected to kickoff on the 16th-30th of August 2012.
