Film on UNICTR now in Schools
The United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda based in Arusha Tanzania showed a film illustrating how 1994 genocide masterminds have been judged.
The film was first shown in the secondary school of ADEC in Ruhanga Gatumba sector.
The deputy public relations officer Charles Kamuru and the permanent secretary in the department of documentation and information Jeanne Dative Karenzi explained to the students,
“It was necessary for the United Nations Organization to form a criminal tribunal court for Rwanda so that the evil minded people who were behind the 1994 mass killings be judged and punishedâ€.
Students were reminded that the International Criminal Tribunal court for Rwanda was formed on the 8th of November 2012 under the United Nations Organization Act of 955.
The film contains a lot of information that would help the Rwandan youth to know much about the hollible history that happened in Rwanda thus avoid the means that would lead to its reoccurring again.
The films was again shown at the girl’s school of CIC Murumba whereby over 800 students and teachers gathered to watch the film and were later given a chance to ask questions.
Many of the questions that were asked include why the United Nations Organization never intervened before things could get out of hand, other that why the Tribunal Criminal court was set up in Arusha yet genocide happen in Rwanda and others that why there is no Rwandan judge on the special committee of tribunal criminal court.
