Health workers urged to support family planning
Family planning in Gakenke district is still backward at the rate of about38percent though they are only left with three months to reach the goal set at 52percent.
Health workers from different sectors of Gakenke district were convened in a meeting where they were asked to put in more effort in encouraging women to participate in family planning programs so that the set target can be achieved.
The district official in charge of health Janviere Uwamariya said, “Health workers and officials in charge of family planning methods have a lot to do by encouraging women to participate in family planning programs so that the set target of 52percent is achievedâ€.
In that meeting, a strategy was devised whereby a week dedicated to family planning will be held starting from 27th March to 3rd April 2012. Opinion leaders and health workers will participate in that program of encouraging people to embrace family planning programs.
The district is performing better in healthy insurance whereby 94.7% of its people have health insurance. Sector leaders in charge of social welfare were urged to put in more effort in ensuring that the remaining percentage is also covered and remind people to start saving for next year’s health insurance bill.
